I was full of anticipation for a relaxing soak in the hot springs of Santa Rosa until the rain came down and forced us to huddle in a small corner café while we rethought our plans. As luck would have it, things worked out for the better when we decided to go to the bed and breakfast we had reserved our rooms at instead.

Casa Rural San Juan de Araucarias was the perfect place to go for a romantic getaway in the Colombian countryside. We arrived a bit late after dodging the rain and the caretakers were very welcoming in spite of the hour. Our room was simply furnished and the beds were comfortable. After laying our wet clothes out to dry we relaxed with the bottle of wine, cheese and dates that I had packed for us. The bathroom was clean and had hot water.
